Galaxy Express is without a doubt the most successful band to grow out of the Hongdae punk scene. Their style combines the best aspects of punk, psychedelic rock, and garage rock. It won them Album of the Year (2009) and Artist of the Year (2011) at the Korean Music Awards, and has led to success abroad at international showcase festivals like Canadian Music Week and multiple appearances at South by Southwest.
